THE ART OF LIVING

A Curated Look at Living in the Nation’s Capital

This month, I am highlighting cultural events in our region alongside thoughtful ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Both are invitations to gather, to reflect, and to connect. In a season that can easily feel quiet and contained, I have been thinking about the importance of being intentional about stepping outside, even in the cold, and choosing to fully participate in life around us.

That intention guided me personally this year. I planned travel to Costa Rica over the holiday weekend, making a deliberate decision to shift my environment rather than simply move through winter on autopilot. The reset was meaningful, but the larger reminder was this: whether through travel or through engaging with what is happening in our own city, living well requires intention. I hope this month’s selections encourage you to get out, gather thoughtfully, and embrace the season with purpose.

Six Forces That Will Shape Luxury Housing in 2026

Luxury housing relies on more than prime addresses and extravagant amenities.

Indeed, at the top end of the real estate market, list prices and demand are driven by currents that touch many borders: Think international capital flow and policy shifts as well as singular buyer behavior that impacts everywhere from California to the United Arab Emirates.

MODERN LUXURY

Vienna, Virginia

Crafted to stand apart and built with intention, I’m a contemporary statement of design and precision, spanning over 8,000 square feet across three thoughtfully curated levels—each connected by a future-ready elevator shaft, so every floor feels like the main event.

CUSTOM ESTATE

Potomac, MD

A refined custom estate on a premium 1.23-acre lot with over 7,400 square feet of gracious living, thoughtful architectural details, indoor-outdoor spaces and a private backyard retreat with heated pool, spa and Har-Tru tennis court.

COASTAL LIVING

Fort Lauderdale, Florida

A two story corner residence defined by seamless indoor outdoor coastal living, featuring private elevator access, expansive terraces with a summer kitchen, and three en suite bedrooms within the boutique 30 Thirty North Ocean.

DIRECT OCEAN VIEWS

Fort Lauderdale, Florida

This residence at The Elliott offers refined coastal living with direct ocean and Intracoastal views from a fully furnished two-bedroom, two-bath layout and access to resort-style amenities including a full-service spa, fitness center, oceanfront pool and beach service.

If you are looking for your next destination for a family or group trip, I cannot recommend the Villa Oasis where we stayed in Jacó Beach, Costa Rica highly enough, a spacious retreat near the beach with room for everyone and a team that made the stay feel seamless.

I was never particularly interested in dolls or dressing up as a young girl, so my fascination with Bridgerton still surprises me. I used the season premiere as an excuse to host a small watch party, complete with tea and crumpets, and I am already looking forward to the season finale.
